Written Scholarship
Here you can see the essays and other scholastic written works Sam has written at his time throughout his career and education.
Teaching Philosophy
This is a copy of Sam's philosophy on teaching that he wrote for his Art of Teaching Music class. Here he goes in depth into his beliefs and ideals when it comes to the best ways to teach, and specifically the best ways to teach in a musical classroom. Coming into Westminster, Sam had no idea what his "teaching philosophy" was. He just thought that he would teach music, and never thought harder about it than that. After one year at Westminster, he quickly learned that teaching is much more than just teaching music, especially depending on the grade level, yet at this point he still did not have a sturdy philosophy to back up his teaching. After his sophomore year, after learning about the many methodologies that surround teaching music, Sam has finally begun to form his own philosophy on how to teach music, and as his time at Westminster contines, his philosophy will continue to shift and change. Sam has since learned how powerful honoring the students world can be. His knowledge of Music Education philosophy has also grown, as he now can build off of the well-known and well-regarded music ed philosophies such as David Elliot's Praxialism and Bennett Reimer's Aestheticism.
