Instrumental Work
While at Westminster, Sam became proficient with many different instruments, which is important and necessary for educators to do in case they are tasked with teaching an instrument-based music class such as a concert band or orchestra. While voice is his primary instrument, Sam also was an all-state level tuba player all throughout high school, and often gigs as a tuba player whenever possible. He is actively looking for other brass musicians to gig with.

One of the unique things Sam is trained in is Jazz music, specifically playing sting bass/electric bass charts on the tuba in big band style ensembles. Here is a video of him playing the Sousaphone in a jazz band, performing Howard Rowe's "Chasin' Bill"

Here is another video showcasing Sam's tuba playing in a jazz setting, as he (off screen to the left playing the silver tuba) performs the string bass chart of a band arrangement of the classic jazz standard "Indiana"

Before attending Westminster Choir College, Sam's main music training was in Tuba performing in concert bands and orchestras. Here is a video of him performing with a group Eric Whitacre's classic "Seal Lullaby"

Before Sam got to Westminster, he played the tuba for many years, even playing in the Rhode Island All-State Band for multiple years. Although he didn't often play solo tuba repertoire, here is a video of him sightreading an arrangment of Bach's "Air" from Air and Bourrée for Tuba and Piano for practice.
